“How precious also are Thy thoughts unto me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.” Psalm 139:17,18

God thinks about His beloved children! He ponders us in love and wisdom and holy compassion. He has thought about us in His covenant of salvation. He knows everything about us physically, spiritually, emotionally and any other category! He knows our present frustrations, questions and burdens. He knows what is best for us. He guides our lives and is involved in every detail.

He even sees all the sinful baggage we tote around in our hearts, the wrong words that we speak, and even the thoughts that are contrary to His word. God sees the things that we ourselves even wish weren’t there…He sees it all…and still deeply loves His children!

It is sobering that He sees all, and should lead us to repentance. After all, we are an open book to Him; nothing is hidden! To make excuses or rationalize our sins knowing they are right in God’s face is pride in a particularly ugly form. But understanding that God knows all is also comforting. Sometimes we don’t even understand ourselves, but He sees and knows us perfectly. It is comforting because He sees when are trying to follow and please Him, but still stumble and struggle. It is comforting because His knowledge of us is not just “neutral knowledge” but it is loving knowledge. All the more reason for us to trust Him implicity, worship, thank and obey Him.
