“The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way: but the folly of fools is deceit.” Proverbs 14:8

The idea of the “way” is the journey or path of life. Those who are wise understand the journey. They understand the purpose of the journey, the end of the journey, the dangers that lie in the journey, and the source of true joy on the journey.

We all, the wise and the fool are on a journey of life. The fool will spend the journey doing whatever it is that pleases him or her. Fools live on the journey according to their own wisdom and sadly, they don’t have lasting joy or peace in the journey. Finally, the fool’s end will meet with eternal destruction.

But, we were all once fools! Mercy and grace from God transforms the foolish into wise. Now, we know our life is about worshipping and honoring God. It is to be a life centered upon Him, putting Him first in all things, and submitting to His word. This is where true joy is found, in the Giver and Sustainer of life, who is also our Savior. The Lord Jesus who is “the way, the truth and the life” also stands at the end of the journey with everlasting joy.

Where are you on the journey? Remeber there is danger on the way: distraction, deception and seduction of many kinds. Do you need to be refocused or reenergized with God’s word? Don’t live like a fool. Live the journey well by the grace of Jesus Christ.
