“Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing; to show that the LORD is upright: He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.” Psalm 92:13-15

In God’s house, His glory is seen, His word is held up, His name is praised, His salvation is delighted in, and honor and obedience are given to Him. God’s house, therefore, is the place to center one’s life. Those who have dedicated their lives to this pursuit still bring forth fruit even in their senior years. The elderly citizens of God’s house are not useless citizens. Because they continue to seek their Rock, He is faithful to enable them to still bring forth fruit that glorifies His name, and sets a righteous example for others. As they continue to treasure Christ above all and speak of His faithfulness to them, they show what it looks like to live a truly flourishing life.

To young and old: plant yourself more deeply in the house of the Lord. In our day, it is not uncommon to witness a lack of commitment to the house of God. User-friendly expectations and service based on covenience seem to be a problem in many circles. A strong church is made up of strong individual commitment and personal sacrifice.

Value public worship and hearing of the word of God. Serve one another. Pray for the spiritual prosperity and growth of the house of God. Follow good examples and be a good example. Follow Christ by committing yourself to service in His house. Those who honor Him, He will honor!
