“I am a stranger in the earth: hide not Thy commandments from me.” Psalm 119:19

The Christian is not at home here in this dark, corrupt world. By the grace of God, we have been redeemed, forgiven and given the sure promise of living with our Lord for a glorious eternity. But, while we wait for that blessed day, we are called to walk in this earth doing the work and living the life to which God has called us.

Essential to the well-being and success of living out that calling is the Word of God. This is why David prayed, “Hide not Thy commandments from me.” He recognized that his need for the word was great. Through the Scriptures, God gives us understanding, hope, correction, and a view of His great glory.

Believer, you need God’s word! Will you seek diligently to pursue this treasure more deeply? Will you pray this same prayer that David prayed? In seeking and applying the Word, you will find great refreshment for your soul, wise counsel and guidance, and a spirit to worship your great Savior. God will honor those who seek Him by seeking His word!
